Is your UAD Turbocharging Your Performance?

Appraisers have been extremely busy in the last few months: First, there was the seasonal rush to appraising, which kept appraisers working late at night to complete their orders; secondly, every appraiser working on appraisal reports sent to the GSEs had to comply with UAD requirements and compliance as of September 1. Of course, most Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs) started requiring appraisers to submit their reports before that deadline so that potential errors could be eliminated. As we passed the deadline this month, appraisers and AMCs were still struggling to work through some of the complexities.  And the next deadline for submission of the UAD compliant reports through the UCDP portal by AMCs is coming up soon (March 2012).

As appraisers, what should you be focused on? Appraisers should make sure that their UAD compliant appraisals are error free before submitting them to the AMCs/Lenders (and ultimately to the GSEs): Appraisers have been learning the new UAD requirements, learning how to apply the requirements in their software. Now they should be focused on improving their productivity filling out the appraisal report and minimizing turn times when submitting their UAD compliant appraisals.
